Run by Barbara Boyd and Steve Nelson, the Woodrose Ballroom, a former roller skating rink, hosted a number of top rock acts in 1969.The Velvet Underground made its first appearance at the Woodrose Ballroom on March 21-22, 1969. The J. Geils Band opened for them.
To frame the time period, the cost to get in was $2.75 and “Chicks 50¢ Off”.
