Konrad Zacharias Lorenz (Bécs, 1903 – Bécs, 1989) az ún. klasszikus összehasonlító magatartáskutatás egyik úttörője, a modern etológia egyik megalapítójának is szokták nevezni. Ő maga ezt a kutatási területet 1949-ig „állatpszichológiának” hívta, és a német nyelvterületeken őt tekintik e terület alapító atyjának. 1973-ban Karl von Frisch-sel és Nikolaas Tinbergennel megosztva orvosi-élettani Nobel-díjat kapott az „egyéni és szociális viselkedésminták felépítésével és működésével kapcsolatos felfedezéseiért”.
